First Day

Wow... what an awesome first day. We had a presentation from Gary Kelley and one from Brad Rigney (Cryptcrawler). They talked about some pretty sweet stuff and showed a lot of epic art. I'm not gonna go in to huge details here because I'm super tired.

The one thing I found most interesting was learning to be critical of your work; look at it for what it is, not what you want it to be. We should look at our art and ask ourselves, "If someone else had painted this, what would I think of it?"

I dunno about the rest of the world, but I definitely suffer from that. Occasionally to the point of being afraid to look for mistakes because I know I'll find some. So I thought that was a pretty sweet little tidbit, and definitely something to take hold of if you plan on improving your art.

And sorry I don't have an image today; all I did was some sketchbook doodles and don't have a scanner atm.

Hopefully these entries will get longer and more informative too, but for now I need to sleep.

Arriving in KC

Here's a quick little portrait doodle I did. Arrived in KC for the opening workshop of TAD today, I'm pretty flipping excited! Met John English, Brent Watkinson, and some epic-sauce students. The learnings of all learnings are beginning tomorrow, so hopefully I'll have some time to talk about them a bit on here (assuming I don't die from being in the presence of such ridiculously awesome artists, of course).

First?!

Why hello there, and welcome to my blog! If you're reading this, odds are you're at least vaguely interested in art, which is going to be to your advantage because that's what this blog is all about!

Art-wise, I plan to post all kinds of things here, such as studies, sketches, finished works, works in progress and pretty much anything else that's worth posting.

However, it's not just going to be a blog for posting art, but also for learning art. I plan to use this blog to document all kinds of things I might learn relating to art, and then use it to share them with you. So not only will it record my own progression as an artist, but it will also provide valuable knowledge that you can apply to your own artistic journeys.

And, occasionally, it will also just be a place to spew the events of my life all over whoever can be bothered to read it.

That being said, I hope you enjoy yourself if you decide to stick around! I look forward to all the potentially awesome things that may come about because of it!
